groovy george :)
Your stuff is just so pleasant... well mixed, good composition, my ears love it. Keep it up!
You're too kind! ~~(〃 ̄ω ̄〃ゞ
I really don't know how to mix. Sometimes I feel it's just better to leave the mixer.
Simple and relaxing... I like it a lot :D
Ty! I've actually started to like this more. One thing I always felt could have been better is the synth that goes with the piano from the start. (ʃ⌣́,⌣́ƪ)
I enjoyed it. My only suggestion would be to have the high notes more centered since they're so prevalent in the mix. It's a bit draining on my right ear haha.
Thanks. Yeah, that would've been a little bit too difficult, because the vst itself has this effect to simulate the piano sounds from the perspective of the piano player.
I really like it. It fits a "in your house at the beginning" section of a video game :)
What plugins/libraries did you use for the wind and bass-strings?
Glad you like the track! :)
Most everything in this track is from Miroslav Philharmonik.
The bass-strings were from Acoustica Instruments library.
Ehhhh... idk man. I cringed a bit. It's a bit cheesy, no offense.
anime can have "Cheesy lines".......ehh
Sounds like you've got real nasty clipping, might be just a bit too loud. Pretty sure some stuff is being smashed up against a limiter somewhere.
Maybe try turning your volume down cause it seems fine to me :/
Sidechain the kick to everything in the mids/lows, it'd add so much energy to the mix.
Lol I keep forgetting to do that. Well time to brush up on some more knowledge, music that is.
Lots of clashing frequencies in the mids, I'd filter some stuff out to tighten it up. Also bump up the high freq's a tad with some EQ on the master, it'd do wonders for clarity. Then, make sure your kick is centered, it takes away a LOT of the punch when you have it panned or stereo delayed.
I'll most definitely take it into consideration. Thank you for your helpful constructive criticism!
I'm not into death metal myself, but in regards to the actual production quality, I'd have to say it could use some work. The electric guitar needs to be fattened up a bunch with more harmonics, and a band-stop on it in whatever freqs the vocals primarily occupy. It overall just sounds very quiet. I can't comment much on the composition, because I assume death metal uses a lot of dissonance, which is ever-so present here, and likely intentional.
I appreciate the advice man. I am aware of the "quiet" sound and the production quality issues. On all of my bandpage accounts this song, and the others on this ep, are labelled as "Rough Drafts"
Most, if not all, issues will be resolved with recording of the real instruments for the tracks. And then being mixed by a pro studio tech.
As for dissonance and composition, death metal ranges from very flat in one direction all the way to grindcore (which has absolutely no intention of direction at all).
